![]() In World War I, Rommel fought in many different countries, including France, Romania, and Italy. The two would produce a son 12 years after getting married. While at Cadet School, he met his future wife, Lucia Maria Mollin, who was 17 at the time. Rommel would later end his relationship with Stemmer. Rommel developed a relationship with Walburga Stemmer in 1913, which resulted in the birth of his daughter, Gertrud Stemmer. He graduated from the Officer Cadet School in Danzig on November 15, 1911, and was commissioned as a lieutenant in January of 1912. Rommel had initially considered becoming an engineer, but had eventually decided to follow in his fathers footsteps and join the local 124th Wurttemberg Infantry Regiment at the age of 18. His father was Erwin Rommel Senior, and his mother was Helene Von Luz. ![]() Erwin Johannes Eugen Rommel was born on Novemin Southern Germany at Heidenheim.
